Seabrae

Seabrae is in the beautiful coastal village of Gullane in East Lothian, less than five miles from the seaside town of North Berwick and 20 miles from Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital city. Edinburgh airport can be reached within an hour and the city centre is 25 minutes away by train from the nearby station of Drem.

East Lothian has often been called a golfer’s paradise. There are ten famous golf courses within twenty minute’s drive, four of them within walking distance. The region’s microclimate ensures more playable days than elsewhere in Scotland. Most of East Lothian’s golf courses are traditional Scottish links style with undulating fairways, hidden bunkers, gorse and heather lining the fairways. Courses nearby include Gullane No 1,2 and 3, Luffness Golf Course, Muirfield, Archerfield Fidra Links and Dirleton Links, The Renaissance Club, North Berwick, Whitekirk and Dunbar.

The Region

East Lothian is a popular holiday destination. There are so many places to visit, both historical and modern, with something to suit every taste and budget. Gullane’s huge beach is a short walk from the house across “Gullane Bents” and it provides the opportunity for safe swimming, sunbathing, picnics, beach games and long coastal walks. Not too far away there are the breathtakingly beautiful beaches of Yellowcraigs, Seacliff, Tantallon or Belhaven.

You can enjoy many fun day-trips from Gullane including boat trips from North Berwick, the Scottish Seabird Centre, a short climb up North Berwick Law for unbeatable views, Tantallon and Dirleton Castles, the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune, Preston Mill at East Linton, Musselburgh Race Course, Glenkinchie Distillery, East Links Family Park by Dunbar, to name but a few.

Annual events include Edinburgh’s many festivals, Fringe by the Sea in North Berwick and our regional book festival at Lennoxlove. Gullane Games is held every summer with fun and games for everyone. For those seeking outdoor thrills there is sailing, wake-boarding, horse-riding and cycling and if you need height why not try climbing North Berwick Law or Traprain Law. There are art galleries all over the county and the popular 3 Harbours Arts Festival is held every year at Cockenzie.

Some of the area’s beautiful gardens are also open to the public at certain times of year. Visitors can take a short trip to Edinburgh by car or by train for the theatre and arts cinemas, or visit our local theatre, The Brunton in Musselburgh. The cinema has also recently returned to Fort Kinnaird.
